Thousands gather in D.C. for ‘One Nation’ rally
Tens of thousands of everyday Americans came from all parts of the country to witness another historic day and had their own reasons for taking buses, trains, planes and automobiles to get there.
Local 14 members loaded on buses with Local 12 members and traveled to Washington DC Friday night arriving early Saturday morning, Oct. 2, 2010.
Leaders from civil and human rights groups, unions, immigration advocates, were represented at the event, including AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka, CWA President Larry Cohen and SEIU President Mary Kay Henry.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson was also on hand to encouraged Americans to vote, and spoke about creating jobs for America.
The speakers were united in their encouragement for people to vote on November 2, 2010.
