NOTICE TO HOURLY EMPLOYEES REGARDING OPTIONAL LIFE INSURANCE AND DEPENDANT LIFE INSURANCE
As a result of discussions between GM, MetLife and our unions, certain hourly employees will have a life insurance enrollment opportunity under General Motors Life and Disability Benefits Program for Hourly Employees for Optional Life and Dependant Life Insurance coverages. MORE

NOTICE: HOURLY OPTIONAL LIFE AND DEPENDANT LIFE INSURANCE PREMIUM HOLIDAY EFFECTIVE MAY THROUGH DECEMBER 2010

Hourly employees, retirees, and surviving spouses/same-sex domestic partners enrolled in Optional Life Insurance (OLI) and/or Dependent Life Insurance (DLI) offered through the General Motors Life and Disability Benefits Program for Hourly Employees will have their monthly contributions waived for two (2) months for Optional Life Insurance and eight (8) months for Dependent Life Insurance beginning May through December 2010. HEALTH CARE REFORM: A TIMELINE
The new health care reform law that President Obama signed is complex and will take time to become fully implemented. Here's a report on the UAW website and timeline by Congressional Quarterly for when certain segments of the law are to take place

UAW VEBA for post retirement health care benefits for UAW retirees:

“GM has successfully completed the transition of post retirement health care benefits for UAW retirees to the UAW VEBA as of midnight on 12/31/09. In the event you have questions about the VEBA, you should call 866-637-7555. Please note that active UAW employees, salaried employees and salaried retirees should continue to direct their health care coverage/benefits questions to the GM Benefits & Services Center. UAW retirees should continue to contact the GM Benefits & Services Center for questions not related to post-retirement health care.”
